TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: BAKING SPATULAS

Hey guys:

What is your favorite spatula?? My is the offset I used it for almost everything.  They come in different shapes, sizes, colors, materials, etc... :)

These spatulas for baking are the perfect utensils for spreading icing, whipped cream, and other toppings onto cakes, cookies, and pastries. Each baking spatula features a long, thin, and flexible blade that allows bakers to apply spreads smoothly. You can also use these tools to remove cookies from sheet pans, icing from mixing attachments, and sticky ingredients from other mixing tools.

The selection of spatulas for baking includes options with plastic handles for easy gripping, as well as options with wooden handles for an old-fashioned look and feel. You can also choose a baking spatula based on the style of its blade. Spatulas with straight blades are ideal for leveling off icing, whereas options with offset blades are great for decorating tops of cakes since its shape will prevent batter or icing from getting on your knuckles.

My favorite one is the offset spatula:  A narrow spatula that is built with a thin, flexible stainless steel blade. This spatula is used for frosting cakes and to spread toppings or mixtures smoothly over the food being prepared. The blade is slightly flexible, which aids in spreading and making soft toppings smooth in appearance. The spatula is used as a decorating tool but can also be used to serve slices of cake, pieces of pie or bars. Baking spatulas are available with various length blades ranging from 4 to 14 inches. They are available with a straight blade or an offset blade. The offset spatula aids in keeping your hands from touching the food that is being spread. The angle of the offset blade also makes it easier to slide under pieces of cake, pies or bars to remove them from the pan. The spatulas can also be used to turn mini pancakes, remove cookies from cooking sheets, or to turn a hamburger patty. They are available with wooden, stainless steel, polypropylene, or plastic handles. This utensil is also referred to as an icing spatula, frosting spatula, or pastry spatula.
